Qatar Advocates for Israeli Nuclear Oversight and NPT Compliance

Qatar has called for Israel to bring its nuclear facilities under IAEA regulation and to sign the NPT as a non-nuclear state during an IAEA meeting. Israel does not publicly acknowledge having nuclear weapons.

During an IAEA session in Vienna, Qatar asserted the necessity for all Israeli nuclear facilities to operate under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Qatar also urged Israel to accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as a non-nuclear state. Notably, Israel maintains a policy of ambiguity regarding its nuclear weapons, neither confirming nor denying their existence.

Qatar’s demand reflects ongoing regional tensions and advocacy for nuclear non-proliferation. By calling for Israeli compliance with both IAEA regulations and the NPT, Qatar seeks to promote transparency and foster stability in the Middle East.
