Oman Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Rights at OIC Extraordinary Meeting
Oman participated in the OIC Extraordinary Meeting in Jeddah, focusing on the Israeli aggression in Palestine. H.E. Oman participated in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This session focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Palestinian territories. H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the Omani delegation, emphasized Oman’s commitment to a ceasefire in Gaza, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the return of displaced persons.
H.E. Al-Busaidi reiterated the necessity of allowing humanitarian aid to reach all regions of Gaza and cautioned against any actions that might lead to the displacement of Palestinians or infringe upon their rights. He expressed Oman’s support for OIC member states in efforts to address Israeli aggression, calling for an effective international mechanism to stop the violations and protect civilians, as well as to lift the blockade and hold Israeli officials accountable for their actions.
The meeting, chaired by H.E. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations of Cameroon and the current Chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, saw participation from various foreign ministers. Oman’s delegation included H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, and Minister Plenipotentiary Salem bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi, along with other Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
In addition to participating in the meeting, H.E. Al-Busaidi engaged in discussions with H.E. Dr. Abbas Araghchi of Iran, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation amidst regional and international developments. Both parties highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomatic efforts toward peaceful and just resolutions to conflicts.
H.E. Al-Busaidi also met with H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov from Uzbekistan to discuss regional and international issues. The discussions reinforced diplomatic cooperation and commitment to enhancing economic, investment partnerships, and cultural and scientific initiatives between their respective nations. Numerous officials from both countries accompanied the meetings.
