Trump highlighted the urgency of negotiations, asserting, “Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large-scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED.” His remarks included a call for both nations to engage in dialogue promptly.

This new potential for sanctions comes after reports indicated that the White House is formulating a strategy to consider sanctions relief for Russia in an attempt to restore diplomatic and economic ties and conclude the ongoing conflict, which has seen Russia imposed under extensive sanctions since its invasion of Ukraine.

On another front, Trump expressed a desire to renegotiate a nuclear agreement with Iran, stating he dispatched a letter to its leaders advocating for talks. He emphasized, “I said I hope you’re going to negotiate, because it’s going to be a lot better for Iran.” However, it remains unclear if Iran has received the letter, as their mission to the United Nations indicated no immediate response from the Iranian foreign ministry.
