This initiative builds on Microsoft’s previous investments totaling ZAR 20.4 billion ($1.1 billion) over the past three years dedicated to developing data centers in Johannesburg and Cape Town, strengthening the country’s technological capabilities.

Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, emphasized the significance of Microsoft’s presence in the nation, stating, “Beyond blazing a trail in the local technology space, the longstanding presence of Microsoft in South Africa is a vote of confidence in our country and in our economy.” He further noted that the investments indicate South Africa’s potential as an attractive destination for business and investment.
