On March 1, 2025, the 62nd Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded in Hangzhou, marking the first time China has hosted this significant event. The successful adoption of outlines for the Working Groups of the Seventh Assessment Report reflects China’s commitment to climate governance and enhancing global scientific collaboration. This session has set a crucial foundation for unified efforts to address climate change collaboratively.

China continues to establish itself as a supportive partner for Global South countries in their green transition. It has shared meteorological data with 132 nations and cooperated with Pakistan, Ethiopia, and others to develop early warning systems. China is dedicated to reducing the costs of emission reductions and enhancing green production capacities for over 100 developing countries through various sustainable projects across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

In response to recent tensions regarding U.S. tariffs, Lin Jian reiterated China’s firm stance opposing the use of the fentanyl issue as a pretext for tariff increases. China emphasizes that it will take necessary actions to protect its legitimate interests amidst this trade dispute.
