Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed strong criticism regarding the recent cooperation agreement between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Kalonzo emphasized that the current opposition coalition will steadfastly advocate for the citizens’ interests, asserting, “The people’s loyal coalition will never trade its principles for temporary comfort,” on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In conjunction with his remarks, Kalonzo shared updates from the ongoing People’s Dialogue Forum at Uhuru Park, where he reaffirmed the opposition’s dedication to defending Kenyan rights. Moreover, he highlighted his unity with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in this mission. Kalonzo actively participated in the forum, which has been engaging civil society leaders in discussions of national significance since its start.

The forum has also featured participation from notable figures, including former Chief Justice David Maraga, who has offered insights during the sessions that conclude on Saturday. Kalonzo previously urged Raila to align with the opposition rather than the government, seeking unity for the nation’s liberation. Gachagua echoed similar warnings against any collaboration between Raila and Ruto.

During a recent Wajir County visit, Raila dismissed the notion of collaborating with Gachagua’s faction. He remarked on Gachagua’s previous comments suggesting he had set traps to obstruct Raila’s political aspirations, stating, “So, do you want us to work with someone who set traps for me? I told him that is impossible.”

On Friday, the two leaders formalized a notable Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on resolving at least ten critical national issues, including combatting corruption. They also advocated for the full implementation of the Nadco report, an outcome of bipartisan talks. However, this proposal faced immediate dissent from Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, who asserted, “Anybody supporting Nadco must be removed from public life. Raila Odinga and William Ruto have declared war on the future of this country,” during his participation at the People’s Dialogue Forum.
