Qatar Cabinet Approves New Law on Lost Property, Supports Palestine and Legal Initiatives
The Qatari Cabinet approved a draft law on lost property, supported regional peace efforts for Palestine, and praised strategies aimed at enhancing the legal sector and preserving the national archive. Agreements with Sierra Leone and Uzbekistan were ratified while ongoing international cooperation was emphasized.
The Cabinet of Qatar affirmed its position supporting Palestinian citizens and expressed hope for enhanced Arab solidarity following the recent Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo. The Cabinet discussed efforts to end the Gaza conflict, lift the siege, and rebuild the region while stressing the importance of establishing a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft law concerning lost property and unclaimed money, which will now be sent to the Shura Council. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, chaired the meeting, where the Minister of Justice highlighted the Ministry’s Strategy (2025-2030) aimed at improving the legal sector through enhanced judicial services and partnerships.
The Cabinet also praised the newly launched National Archives of Qatar Strategy (2025-2030), focused on preserving Qatar’s historical legacy through digitization and community engagement. Furthermore, it approved discussions regarding new regulations for safeguarding public electrical and water facilities at work sites to guarantee compliance with Law No. (13) of 2024.
The Cabinet endorsed an agreement with the Republic of Sierra Leone to regulate employment of Sierra Leonean workers in Qatar and ratified a Memorandum of Understanding with Uzbekistan related to cooperation in combating money laundering. Lastly, it reviewed and made decisions regarding reports on Qatar’s participation in the Hajj Conference and the Oman-Qatar Economic Forum, representing continued efforts to engage in international dialogue.
