The President of the Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce (NiDCC), Ms. Patience Key, has called upon Nigerians to move beyond lamenting the actions of past leaders and take strategic actions towards building a more prosperous Nigeria. In a statement delivered in Abuja, Key stated that the public reaction following former Military President, Retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida’s autobiography, “A Journey in Service,” should pivot from outrage to constructive engagement.

Key highlighted that while the book’s confirmation of late Chief MKO Abiola’s electoral victory was significant, it does not negate the enduring effects of the annulment, such as political instability and economic stagnation. She urged that the time for mere emotional reactions has ended, advocating for disciplined and coordinated efforts toward national transformation to ensure the collective destiny of Nigerians is upheld.

To achieve the desired change, Key emphasized the necessity for Nigerians to reclaim political power by mobilizing strategically. She stated, “We must stop lamenting about bad leadership and start funding, supporting, and electing transformational leaders at every level of government.”
