Launch of ‘Bright Journey’ Programme to Aid Cataract Patients in Zimbabwe

On February 26, the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe launched the “Bright Journey” Programme to assist over 600 cataract patients in regaining their sight. On February 26, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding participated in the Launch and Donation Ceremony for the “Bright Journey” Programme for Cataract Surgery in Zimbabwe. The event, attended by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health, Douglas T. Mombeshora, included a team of Chinese medical experts and cataract patients, underscoring the programme’s significance.

Ambassador Zhou highlighted that the “Bright Journey” Programme represents a vital step in executing the Health Partnership Action for Health, established during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe, this initiative aims to assist over 600 cataract patients in reclaiming their sight, reaffirming China’s dedication to global health cooperation.
