On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet expressed unwavering support for the decisions made at the extraordinary Arab League summit in Cairo, which condemned the displacement of Palestinians. The Cabinet reiterated the Palestinian people’s rights to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. It emphasized the need for deploying an international protection and peacekeeping force in the Palestinian territories.
The Cabinet also condemned Israel’s action to halt humanitarian aid into Gaza, calling for the international community to address these violations and ensure consistent access to assistance. Discussions also included the joint statement made following President Joseph Aoun’s Riyadh visit, which emphasized the importance of fully realizing the Taif Agreement and other relevant resolutions regarding Lebanon’s governance and sovereignty.
In their meeting, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Aoun agreed to examine issues impacting the resumption of agricultural exports from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia and to facilitate travel for Saudi citizens to Lebanon. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to Lebanon’s economic recovery and the implementation of necessary reforms to meet international standards.
Additionally, the Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing social services and housing initiatives for qualifying families. With the support of government and private sectors, the Jood Regions campaign aims to provide over 10,000 housing units to the neediest families across the Kingdom, having received notable donations from King Salman and the Crown Prince.
The Cabinet took note of the progress on major developmental projects, including the opening of the first phase of the Sports Boulevard project in Riyadh. The undertaking, now 40% complete, aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by fostering sustainable urban environments conducive to leisure activities, ultimately improving Riyadh’s global standing as a livable city.
