Ghana Offers Lowest Hajj Fare in Sub-Region at GHS62,000

Collins Dauda, Chairman of the Hajj Board, announced that Ghana is offering the cheapest Hajj pilgrimage fare in the sub-region at $4,100, equivalent to GHS62,000. This fare contrasts sharply with prices exceeding $5,000 in neighboring countries. The government has established a March 13 deadline for payments while limiting pilgrim numbers to 5,000 to ensure a smooth process.

The Chairman of the Hajj Board, Collins Dauda, announced that Ghana is offering the most affordable fare for the Hajj pilgrimage when compared to neighboring nations. He stated the fare of $4,100, equivalent to GHS62,000, significantly undercuts the prices set by surrounding countries, which exceed $5,000. Dauda highlighted that Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria are among those charging higher rates.

During the inauguration of a new satellite passport office at the Hajj village, which will assist pilgrims in obtaining their passports, Dauda clarified that there are no plans to lower the fare further. “Not that I know of, the fare we have announced is GHS62,000. But you must know that in the sub-region, Ghana’s fare is the cheapest,” he emphasized, indicating that the fare is substantially lower than those of other countries in the region.

The government has set a deadline of March 13 for Hajj fare payments. Dauda also underscored that the government aims to airlift 5,000 pilgrims, therefore, managing payments closely. “We are doing 5000 pilgrims and so we are monitoring the payments and if after getting the 5000, we will not accept money from anyone,” he stated, stressing the need for accountability among agents involved in the process.

In summary, Ghana leads the region with the lowest Hajj pilgrimage fare at $4,100, as stated by Collins Dauda, Chairman of the Hajj Board. With a deadline for fare payments set for March 13, the government aims to facilitate a smooth pilgrimage process by limiting participants to 5,000 pilgrims. Continuous monitoring of payments is vital to ensure that each agent adheres to the established guidelines, thereby preventing complications for pilgrims.
