China’s Diplomatic Position: Climate Action, Space Cooperation, and Trade Relations

Following the 62nd Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in Hangzhou, Lin emphasized China’s contributions to climate governance and shared its experiences in meteorological disaster prevention with global partners. He noted that China is dedicated to supporting developing countries in their green transition and has provided early warning systems and green technology to numerous nations, particularly in the Global South.

In response to inquiries about the U.S. tariffs, Lin reaffirmed China’s commitment to protecting its interests against what he termed unjustified threats, particularly those concerning fentanyl. He simultaneously expressed readiness for dialogue with the U.S. to address mutual concerns with respect.

Lin commented on the recent cooperation agreement signed between China and Pakistan regarding space exploration, indicating satisfaction with the venture’s potential for human development. He stated that China’s space mission follows principles of equity and peaceful collaboration.

Regarding the issue of the Ukraine crisis, Lin affirmed China’s role as a proponent of peace, encouraging diplomatic solutions while asserting that China is not involved in the conflict. Addressing accusations from U.S. officials about Taiwan and other matters, Lin rebuffed these claims, reminding the press of China’s firm stance on sovereignty and bilateral relations.

Finally, Lin underscored that global health crises like COVID-19 require a scientifically-driven approach and called for cooperation over scapegoating. He urged the U.S. to cease its aggressive rhetoric towards China and reaffirmed China’s position on trade, insisting that trade wars yield no winners and advocating for collaborative resolutions to trade disputes.
