Egypt Urges Immediate Start of Phase 2 in Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

CAIRO – March 2, 2025: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has called for the immediate commencement of Phase 2 of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. He stressed that establishing a political framework for a Palestinian state is crucial for ensuring regional security and stability.
In a press conference held with Dubravka Šuica, the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Abdelatty indicated efforts to involve European powers in applying pressure on Israel to adhere to the full terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Šuica’s visit is part of ongoing high-level discussions aimed at forming the New Pact for the Mediterranean, which seeks to enhance cooperation among Mediterranean nations and the EU. This initiative focuses on promoting economic growth and addressing mutual challenges, as stated by the EU diplomatic delegation in Egypt.
