As the holy month of Ramadan commenced on Sunday following the sighting of the crescent moon, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a call to action for his fellow Muslim leaders. He emphasized the necessity for collaborative efforts to alleviate the suffering experienced by the Palestinian and Lebanese populations, who have endured significant hardship due to relentless Israeli aggression over the past 18 months.

In his message, President Pezeshkian stated, “With the blessings of this holy month and with the collective efforts of the leaders of Muslim countries, we will witness the expansion and strengthening of cooperation among Muslim countries and greater efforts to reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people, including the oppressed people of Gaza and Lebanon.”

The ongoing Israeli airstrikes have resulted in over 46,000 Palestinian and 3,000 Lebanese deaths since October 2023, along with extensive destruction in both regions. Egypt and Jordan currently face heightened pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, who is compelling them to accept over 2 million Palestinians slated for expulsion from Gaza, with threats of financial aid cuts if they do not comply.
