On Thursday, Microsoft hosted a significant event in Muscat, Oman, as part of its worldwide AI Tour spanning 60 countries. The gathering at St. Regis Hotel brought together leaders from various sectors to discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can revolutionize Oman’s digital economy. This event highlights Microsoft’s ongoing support for the Sultanate’s Vision 2040 strategy by promoting innovative AI solutions.
The event featured presentations from prominent Microsoft executives, including Samer Abu-Ltaif, President of Microsoft EMEA; Charles Nahas, Regional General Manager for Microsoft Middle East; and Harry Kambanis, Business Group Leader for Business Applications in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
During his keynote address, Mr. Abu-Ltaif expressed his admiration for Oman’s commitment to technological advancements. He stated, “It is a privilege to be here in Oman, a nation that has long embraced technological progress as a catalyst for economic growth and national advancement.”
Sheikh Saif Hilal al Hosni, Country Manager for Microsoft in Oman and Bahrain, emphasized AI’s growing significance among Omani businesses. He noted, “At Microsoft, we are leading the way in empowering organizations across all sectors to leverage the latest advancements in AI.”
The event showcased practical AI applications through Microsoft’s partnerships with prominent Omani institutions such as the Ministry of Education, which is using AI chatbots to enhance information accessibility. Ahmed Al Habib of Oman Housing Bank discussed the impact of integrating Microsoft 365 Copilot: “AI is not just a futuristic tool; it is already transforming the way we work.” This statement reflects the broader impact of AI on enhancing operational efficiencies.
In addition, the AI Tour included the AI Excellence Awards, recognizing Omani organizations for their successful AI implementations. Recipients included the Ministry of Education and National Centre for Statistics and Information, among others, celebrating advancements in various sectors.
