Egypt Presents Gaza Reconstruction Plan Amid Arab Nations’ Rejection of Trump’s Proposal

At a press conference with EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Suica, Egypt’s Abdelatty stressed the necessity for international support and funding for the reconstruction. He indicated plans for discussions with major donor nations post-approval of the reconstruction plan at the upcoming Arab Summit.

As tensions rise, aid trucks to Gaza have been blocked by Israel, intensifying the ongoing standoff following a six-week ceasefire. Abdelatty condemned the use of humanitarian aid as leverage, asserting that “collective punishment could not be permitted.”

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to the original ceasefire agreement, which has now entered its second phase, stating that success will require goodwill and political will. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office claimed adherence to a U.S. proposal for a temporary ceasefire during the holy periods of Ramadan and Passover.

Following the summit, Abdelatty announced that foreign ministers from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation will convene in Saudi Arabia for urgent discussions on implementing the decisions from the Arab summit. He concluded that efforts will be made to present the outcomes of the Arab summit effectively to the world.
