Julia Ortiz, a sesame farmer, recalls the perils of traditional agricultural practices, including experiences of losing control over fires intended for land clearing. “It can happen to anybody. Most of us live off farming and we must do burns,” said Ortiz, emphasizing the challenges faced by local farmers.
