Cosco Initiates Express Service for Ecuadorean Exports to China

Cosco has launched the WSA5 express service to transport Ecuadorean shrimp and bananas to China. The service reduces shipping time to 27 days, calling at Chancay and Shanghai, which is notably faster than existing routes.

Cosco has introduced a new express ocean service designed to expedite the transport of Ecuadorean shrimp and bananas to China. This service, known as the WSA5, commenced with the 8,528 TEU Xin Ou Zhou departing from Guayaquil. The first calls include Chancay in Peru and Shanghai, with an expected transit time of 27 days, which is considerably shorter than the 35 to 55 days typical of existing services.

The launch of the WSA5 service by Cosco significantly enhances the efficiency of shipping Ecuadorean produce to China, reducing travel time and potentially benefiting exporters. As competition among carriers intensifies, reefer services are likely to adapt further in response to market demands.
