Undersecretary Giorgio Silli’s Official Mission to Peru: Focus on Adoptions and Business Opportunities
Undersecretary Giorgio Silli visited Lima, Peru, focusing on international adoptions and enhancing relations with the Italian community. He met with various officials, including representatives from key institutions and local authorities, to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities. Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Giorgio Silli recently conducted an official mission to Lima, Peru, concentrating on the themes of international adoptions and enhancing connections with the Italian community residing in Peru. His agenda included meetings with representatives from significant Italian and Peruvian institutions, including COMITES, CGIE, the Chamber of Commerce, and various Italian companies, as well as discussions with the Vice President of the Commission for International Adoptions of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
During his visit, Silli engaged in productive discussions with Minister Fanny Esther Montellanos Carbajal and Deputy Minister Carlos Jesus Vilela del Carpio, focusing on cooperation in international adoptions, where both nations have established a fruitful collaboration. These meetings preceded the international seminar titled ‘Adoption: an Interdisciplinary Look,’ organized alongside Peru’s Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations.
The Undersecretary’s agenda also involved dialogue with Peru’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador John Peter Camino Cannock, regarding regional and international policy matters. Additionally, Silli had a notable meeting with Lima Metropolitana’s Mayor, Rafael Lopez Aliaga Cazorla, who honored him with the Medal of the City of Lima.
A significant part of Silli’s mission involved discussions with senior officials from the Ministry of Transport, where he explored investment prospects for Italian enterprises in Peru, a country recognized for its promising economic opportunities.
Silli stated, “This mission reaffirmed the strength of our bilateral ties, with a special focus on cooperation in the international adoption sector. We are satisfied with the opportunities Peru offers to Italian companies and we intend to further strengthen our cooperation, particularly with the local authorities, to promote the rights of families and individuals.” The mission also aimed to enhance the Italian business presence in a country abundant with economic potential.
