Ganfeng Lithium has initiated production at the Goulamina lithium mine in Mali, amidst stringent mining regulations. Chinese lithium producer Ganfeng Lithium has achieved a significant milestone with the commencement of operations at the Goulamina lithium mine in Mali. Despite navigating a challenging landscape marked by rigorous new mining regulations and ongoing security concerns, Ganfeng launched the first phase of production in mid-December. The facility is poised to produce 506,000 tonnes of lithium annually, with plans to expand capacity to 1 million tonnes in subsequent phases. The mine, one of the largest lithium deposits globally, holds the potential for over 23 years of production, generating approximately 15.6 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate over its lifetime. During the inauguration of the plant, Mali’s transitional President, Assimi Goita, emphasized the significance of collaboration between Mali and China, referring to it as a “strategic and sincere” partnership.
